Family photoshoots are something that I have been doing since I started to photograph people. I must have worked with over 200 families over the last 10+ years and I have had countless great experiences with each one.
Pregnancy and baby photos however are relatively new for me and I can say I enjoy them just as much.
At first I was really nervous about babies and how fragile they are but I quickly discovered that I have a knack with these tiny people and I love to create really cool portraits of them.
The ideal time for your baby shoot is when your baby 15 days old. Otherwise anytime between birth and 4 weeks old is best. If you have a special blanket, sweet hat or headband, or a couple cute pairs of socks bring them with you.
For a baby photoshoot you need to come to the studio prepared for 3-4 hours of work. That includes feeding the baby, changing the baby, feeding the baby and changing the baby, more feeding more changing and more feeding.
Posing the baby is the fun part. It takes a little work on my part and a little trust on your part.
If the baby fusses after they are in the pose, give them a few seconds, talk to them quietly and touch them gently with your hand to let them know you are there. Babies feel your energy and react to your touch, they just want to feel safe.
Once they are comfy, they will fall asleep and we’ll have 20 minutes or so for photos before they wake up.
Then, more feeding and more changing and probably some props cleaning/rearranging as well for another round of photos. This process takes a lot of time and patience so bring that too.
These poses are real and natural (and took some work!)
There are no strings and no hands holding baby that have been removed afterwards in photoshop and I am very proud of that

Enjoy!
